This article is about how Imax premiered its new laser system at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood. The article talks about how it is the latest and most cutting edge of projectors out there. The Imax Chief Executive, Richard Gelfond, said the laser projection is a “pivotal moment in time for Imax and a giant leap forward for cinema technology."

I chose this article because I thought it was interesting of Imax debuted the new laser projector that will make the films look even better on the big screen. This article is important because it shows us how companies are trying to get more moviegoers to go to their theater by buying new and fancy technology that is said to make the films looks better. As a moviegoer myself, this makes me wonder if ticket prices will raise because of this new projector. Will it really attract more people to go to the movies?

The article I read is about how Hollywood's box office foreign revenues increased thanks ticket sales in China and other Asian markets. "more people than ever before around the world are going to their local cinemas to see movies made by filmmakers in the United States and all around the globe,” According to the article,"China generated $4.8 billion in ticket sales last year, according to the MPAA report."
I  chose this article because I thought it was interesting that last year, at home, Hollywood's box office revenue decrease as opposed to previous year; meanwhile in foreign markets it managed to generate more than previous years. This is important because he can see that the industry is becoming more and more popular around the world and more and more people are willing to go out an see film in theaters in other places of the world than the United States. As a filmmaker this shows me the interest in the industry is increasing worldwide. As a consumer this shows me that people in other countries are more interested in the industry than we are and if we do not do something to change that, we could loose Hollywood to another more interested place.

The article I read is about how Cinemark Holdings Inc. debuted its," state-of-the art luxury theater" in  Silicon Beach. The new theater "includes a 450-seat auditorium known as XD with a giant 70-feet wide screen and a sound system that has more than 60 speakers." The article says that the company soon plans to have these theaters in Southern California for everyone to enjoy and have a better movie going experience. 
I chose this article because I thought it was interesting that Cinemark Holdings Inc. debuted their new state of the art theaters and that soon they could be coming to Southern California. This article is important because it shows us how these companies are trying to get more people into the theaters one way or another. The attendance rates ate theater have been decreasing due to the lack of quality movies so, theses companies try to sugar coat it by upgrading their theaters. As a consumer this raises a few question such as how will this affect my experience at the theater? How high will prices rise to compensate for the new state of the art equipment? This also makes me wonder will this really get more people to go back to watching movies at the theaters?

The article I read is about how Mandalay chief, Peter Guber, believes California officials are not doing enough to keep the entertainment industry satisfied and kept within the state. He said," it should be called "giveaway production" because California state officials haven't done enough to stop the business from leaving the state." The article continues stating that something needs to be done to keep the entertainment industry in California because at the current rate, the entertainment industry could possibly relocate elsewhere.

i chose this article because I thought i was interesting that someone from the entertainment industry would publicly state the issues between the industry and the state. This article is important because it shows us hat if should thing isn't done than who know how much longer the industry will stay in California. As a filmmaker this makes me wonder if anything will be done to satisfy the entertainment industry and make it so that they keep jobs in California and do not move the productions elsewhere. The article makes me wonder what affect would the absence of the entertainment industry have of the California economy? Why are state officials not more concerned about keeping the industry in California; shouldn't they be doing everything in their power to keep it here?

This article is about how Mayor Eric Garcetti continues his campaign to show how important the film industry is to California. In the previous months, Mayor Garcetti had been promoting his campaign "Greenlight Hollywood" which,"target the greenlight committees of major studios and talent agencies, managers and financiers to promote Los Angeles as a film destination." Mayor Garcetti stress the importance of the film industry to California and wants everyone on board with him to,"Keep Hollywood in California."

I chose this article because i thought it was interesting how Mayor Garcetti continues to promote the film industry and stress its importance to California. This article is important because it shows us how Mayor Garcetti believes that the film industry is vital to California and everything possible must be done to keep it in California. As a filmmaker this shows me how important the film industry is to the economy. As a student this shows me how politicians see the value of the film industry and and are trying their best to help keep the industry alive.

The article I read is about the FCC passage of net neutrality rules on the internet. It is said that ,"This is clearly a victory for everyone -- not just Hollywood -- but everyone who uses the Internet, ... It is a critical moment in the ongoing fight for free expression and robust competition."
 I chose this article because I thought it was interesting how Hollywood would approve of something the FCC endorsed usually Hollywood would be in disagreement with what the FCC thinks bout they are on the same page about this. This article is important because it shows us how the FCC believes that people and companies should have increased freedom to create and distribute content to users without a media company go-between. As someone who uses the internet this makes me wonder if this will affect the way the internet will work. This lets us see that there are alot of regulations in the entertainment industry and now it will be easier/ more convenient for companies to share things with their clients.

The article I read is about how to merger between the companies Time Warner Cable and Comcast, is said to cause many problems economically, according to Rep. Tony Cardenas. The article says that the merger will give even more power to company as it is already the owner of many others that distribute entertainment. It is said that if the merger happens, which Tony Cardenas is trying his best to stop it, the prices of entertainment and internet provides will rise and there will be a great job loss.

This article is important because it shows us that politicians see that the entertainment industry is a great part of the economy and they are trying to keep a stability by making sure that these companies do not become to powerful to where they can manipulate the economy to their best interest. I chose this article because I though it was interesting that a politician would oppose a merger of two companies. As a consumer this whole situation is very concerning. If the two companies merger what does it mean? will prices rise? Quality be reduced? This shows us that politicians are looking out for us, the people, so that we companies do not become to powerful and we are not completely dependent of that one company for a service or product.
